Founded in 1958 by Lebanese entrepreneur, Farouk Ghandour, who was later joined by his brother, Mutaz Ghandour, in 1966.

1972

First company to design, build, and install a reverse osmosis plant outside the USA.

1977

Metito established manufacturing facilities in Houston, Texas and an engineering and design support center in Wimbledon, London.

1992

Metito expanded its business into GCC based out of UAE.

1997

Strengthened business footprint and operational capabilities substantially through expanding in Egypt, targeting North Africa & Sub-Saharan African markets

2007

Revising its corporate structure to reflect diversification strategy, IFC acquired a minority stake in the Group through capital increase.

2014

Mitsubishi Corporation and JBIC acquired a major stake in Metito.

MetiPro (formerly Metito’s Design and Build Arm) executed the water treatment plant with a capacity of 400,000 m³/day to supply drinking water to 6th of October City, Egypt.

2018

MetiPro executed as part of JV with Hassan Allam Construction - “Al Mahsamma” Project, one of largest agricultural wastewater reuse plant in Egypt. Capacity: 1,000,000 m³/day.

MetiPro executed the “Galala” Project, the largest seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Egypt. Capacity: 150,000 m3/day

2018

MetiPro successfully designed and constructed, on a full EPC basis, the first Public-Private Partnership bulk water treatment plant in Sub-Saharan Africa in Kigali, Rwanda. Capacity: 40,000 m³/day.

2019

MetiPro executed the seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant supplying the futuristic city NEOM, KSA. The plant is co-powered by solar energy. Capacity: 125,000 m3/day.

2020

MetiPro designed and constructed, the independent wastewater treatment plant in Dammam, KSA. Capacity of 200,000 m3/day expandable to 350,000 m3/day.

2020

MetiPro executed the “East Port Said” seawater desalination plant comprising the largest Ultrafiltration pretreatment in Egypt. Capacity: 150,000 m³/day.

2021

MetiPro completed three unique seawater desalination plants on floating barges, the largest operating of their kind globally, for KSA. Capacity: 50,000 m3/day each.

2021

MetiPro successfully designed and constructed, on a full EPC basis, as part of a JV,  the “New Delta” Project, the world largest agricultural wastewater reuse plant in Egypt. Capacity: 7,500,000 m3/day including 5 years full operation and maintenance.

MetiPro is developing the single largest seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant globally in Jubail, KSA. Capacity: 1,000,000 m3/day.

2023

MetiPro is leading the design and engineering of the Wave project (ADNOC) large-scale seawater treatment plant in Abu Dhabi, UAE, with a capacity of 522,800 m³/day.

2023

MetiPro (as part of JV) is executing one of the largest desalination plants in South Asia in Chennai, India. Capacity: 400,000 m3/day.

2024

Metito Group drives the next phase of growth through a company-wide strategic re-organization. Metito EPC arm has officially changed its name to MetiPro, reflecting its continued commitment to engineering excellence and innovation.

MetiPro completed the largest seawater desalination treatment plant in Tunisia funded by JICA, with a capacity of 100,000 m³/day expandable to 200,000 m3/day to supply drinking water for Sfax, Tunisia.

2025

MetiPro awarded as part of JV with Hassan Allam Construction - one of the largest Sewage Treatment Plants in Egypt. Capacity: 630,000 m3/day.

MetiPro completed the seawater desalination plant with a capacity of 300,000 m³/day to supply drinking water to Fouka city, Algeria.
